Frequently asked
How does Tosly read a Terms of Service page?
When you open a ToS or Privacy Policy page, the extension extracts the visible text and sends it to our backend along with the URL. An LLM analyzes the document and returns severity flags. Only the page text and URL leave your browser - no identity, history, or other content.
Is anything stored about me?
No. There is no account, no login, no fingerprint. Analysis results are cached server-side per URL for 7 days, but the cache holds the analysis output only - never user identifiers.
Why does Tosly need access to all websites?
A ToS page can live on any domain. Tosly needs the host_permissions wildcard to read text on whatever site you visit. The extension only acts on pages it identifies as ToS or Privacy Policy documents.
Is this legal advice?
No. Tosly provides useful signal for personal decisions. For important contracts, consult a qualified attorney.
Can I report a wrong flag or a missed clause?
Yes - that is the most useful feedback we get. Use the form below or open a GitHub issue with the URL and a short description.
How do I disable Tosly on a specific site?
Click the Tosly icon in your browser toolbar and toggle "auto-scan" off. The setting persists across sessions.
Where is the source code?
On GitHub at preston176/tosly-chrome-extension. Read the prompt in backend/llm/ if you want to see exactly how the analysis is structured.
